14 Islanders qualified to swim
the Long Course Junior Olympics held July 16 - July 20 in Concord,
California and those who competed swam like champions. Catherine
Boles was the top swimmer of the meet, qualifying for finals in 5
of her 9 events and garnering 3 new Western Zone Times, 4 New
PRT’s and 1 new Far Westerns Time. Catherine topped off her
weekend’s success by winning a 3rd place medal in the finals
of the 50 Back. Also headlining the meet was Maddy Delore who
concluded her weekend by finaling in 3 of her 9 events and
garnering 6 new Western Zone Times, 6 new PRT’s and 2 new Far
Western Times. Rounding out the weekend’s success were, Alexa
Lum, who earned 2 new Far Western Times, Morgan Truong, who earned
4 new Far Western Times, Galen Lam, who earned 1 new Far Western
Time and, Chris Hausmann, who garnered 1 new PRT. In addition
to these incredible swims, every Islander Junior Olympian acheived
a number of personal bests. Results from the meet include:

. Far Westerns not only attracts
elite age-group level swimmers from all over the
United
States
but it also hosts elite level
age-group swimmers from other countries as well.
WZ = Swimmer’s time qualifies them for consideration to be
selected for the All Star Team that will represent Pacific Swimming
at the Western Zone Championship Meet August 5 – August 9 in
Oahu, Hawaii. Priority consideration is given to swimmers who have
achieved at least 5 Western Zone Qualifying Times. The Western Zone
Championship Meet is one of the premier Age-Group All Star Meets in
the country. The Western Zone Championship concept has been
designed to offer age group swimmers a stepping stone to the
National Championships by offering an LSC ALL-STAR team travel meet
with a National Championship-like experience. Every event in every
recognized age group is included in the format, including relays.
The meet hosts between 900 and 1000 swimmers with 4000 to 5000
individual swims.
PRT = Pacific Reportable Time. Achieving this time standard in an
event places a swimmer in the top 5% of all
WAY TO GO
ISLANDERS!!!!
