A handful of Islander High
School swimmers, fresh off of swimming at NCS, competed at the WCAB
Walk-On Meet on Sunday, May 17, 2009. The Islanders were led by
swimmers Marlena Nip and Chris Hausmann both of whom capped off the
meet with New Sectionals Qualifying Times. Marlena Nip earned a New
PRT & New Sectionals Qualifying Time in the 200 Breast with a
time of 2:26.03 and a New Far Westerns Qualifying Time in the 200
Free with a time of 1:59.99. Chris Hausmann also added another New
PRT & New Sectionals Cut to his belt with a finishing time of
48.94 in the 100 Free and finished with New PRT’s in the 200
Back (2:00.26) and 50 Free (22.58). Adding to the success of the
weekend, Danny Troung swam to a a New Far Westerns Qualifying time
in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:26.62 and Zoe Allen earned a New
Junior Olympic Time in the 500 Free with a time of 5:37.99. Other
